1. Approval of minutes from the April 8, 2008 Personnel meeting.
Action: Minutes approved as presented.

2. Consideration to enter into closed session under Section 2.2-3711 (A) (1) of the Code of Virginia, to discuss the following: appointments to the Travel Council, Library Board, and the Social Services Board, evaluate the performance of a department where such evaluation will necessarily involve discussion of the performance of a specific individual (did not discus until end of meeting) and hiring of a secretary.

3. Consideration of an appointment to the Travel Council.
Action: Committee recommended to the full board the appointments of Coe Sherrard, Dee Morrisey and Chris Forehand

4. Consideration of an appointment to the Library Board.
Action: Committee recommended to the full board the re-appointments of Donald Albright and LaVern Pitman.

5. Consideration of an appointment to the Social Services Board.
Action: Committee recommended to the full board the re-appointment of Connie Pangle for a second term on the DSS Board.

6. Discussion regarding background checks for all employees.
Action: Committee requested staff return to next month's committee meeting with a comparison from other localities and the cost and time invested into their background checks.

7. Consideration of a job description for an Agriculture Planner.
Action: Committee recommended to the full board approval of job description.

8. Other business

Re-entered into Closed Session under section 2.23711 (A) (1) to evaluate the performance of a department where such evaluation will involve discussion of the performance of a specific individual. No action taken.
