We are offering a wide variety of programs camps this summer for all ages. Please click HERE to view all of our program offerings. To register for the classes, you can use our on-line registration system which can be accessed in the middle of our home page, or fill out our registration form and either mail, fax, or bring the form to our office. Saturday Night Stargazing is BACK!!!
Do you want to learn how to find the constellations or the North Star? Do you want to take a long look at another planet and its moons? How about viewing a Ring Nebula or a Double Star? Please join Shenandoah County Parks & Recreation for several Saturday night stargazing evenings this fall and winter. This event is for all ages; please bring the entire family! Bring a picnic chair, your binoculars or your own telescope, a flashlight, and dress for the nighttime temperatures. The hosts will provide telescopes and instruction. This is a weather-permitting event; if it’s cloudy or raining, the event will be canceled until the next month. There is no pre-registration needed, but please be sure to check the cancellation line at 984-3030, Option 9, before heading to the park. For ALL ages!

For those of you with a stargazing/astronomy interest, Shenandoah County Park now has its own Clear Sky Chart. This is the weather info. SCPR and our volunteer astronomers use to determine if our stargazing events will go forward or not. The website gives you cloud cover information and is very, very accurate.
