We provide a variety of public assistance and social service programs to residents of Shenandoah County.

Programs fall into two major categories:

Benefits:

The public assistance programs allow needy families and individuals to live their lives with dignity and self-respect by providing resources to meet basic needs of food, clothing, shelter and medical assistance when such persons are not supported by their own means, by their relatives and friends, or by other public or private institutions.

The Benefit programs require eligibility based upon the income and resources of the family.

For descriptions and eligiblity criteria, please click on the 'Major Benefits' tab at the top of this page.

Services:

Service Programs do not require financial eligibilty with the exception of Day Care services. The services we provide are mostly protective in nature and include child protective services, adult protective services and foster care.

We also provide adoption studies and court mandated studies concerning the placement of children.
